Once Again

The photo I'm using for this one has been in my stockpile for years.
If you're familiar with my work,
you may recall seeing it loosely rendered with the painting knife.
I've always wanted to paint it traditionally, but the detail scared me to death.
If you've noticed, by design, my work has become looser and more "painterly" lately.
It's not been easy...and I'm nowhere near where I want to be. But I must keep painting!
So...I've decided to give it a go. This one will test my mettle.
"Trout Brook Winter 2" is underway.

Right Under My Nose

I went through a ton of photos yesterday searching for a subject to paint,
 with not much success.
I looked out the window this morning...and there it was.

Pleased with my color palette choices, as things get blocked in...

Sweeper

Late nights and early mornings help make the paint fly.
Coming off the easel for the obligatory artists eyeballing.

UP

Last week True North Trout posted the photo of the Jordan River in northern Michigan
that I'm using as reference in this one.
There's so much "north country" that looks just like mine!
After two starts (and two cover ups), today I think I've got it going where I want it to.
Third times a charm...just a few hours in...
