She's Got the Look

I've been wanting to do this one for awhile.
So here's day one.
I snapped the photo when she was sitting in front of the mirror
in our hotel room in Vegas getting beautiful.
I got the look.

Down on Main Street

"Main Street Christmas"
9x12  Acrylic on canvas board
My knife works seem to always bring an almost effortless freshness and
loose quality I can't get with a brush.
 I like that.

Around the Corner

Another "out my front window" painting.
Close to done...the street looked like a river for a while,
but I think I got it sufficiently hardened up.

Barn in a Blizzard

There's been a lot of washes and splattering going on.
I've almost given up on this one numerous times, even after signing it, but it keeps me coming back.
 It's getting there.

Cleaned Up Kayaks

"Stone Valley Kayaks"
It's come a long way since the last post when I wrote it was almost done...
and when it was really in an ugly stage.

It's a keeper, and now it's really almost done...I think...

Stone Valley

A little over 20 miles from my part of the quiet Raquette,
Stone Valley in Colton NY becomes a raging torrent.
Multiple times a year expert kayakers from all over the world
come to experience the turbulent whitewater during controlled releases.
The next release is scheduled for Saturday August 18.
12 miles of trails follow both sides of the river and afford fantastic views along the route.
One of the best bang for buck things to see and in my part of the world and all it costs is the time you take to enjoy it. I recommend it.

"Stone Valley Kayaks" 16x20 Acrylic on canvas...closing in on completion.

Back At the Easel

After a two week hiatus enjoying company, I'm back at it. This mornings beginning.
Not too far from Donnelly's Ice Cream and one of the best road views of the Adirondacks,
Route 86 crosses over Twobridge Brook.

Torrent

A long time a go I did a painting of a brook that, honestly, really sucked a lot.
There was however, one little gem spot in it that wasn't even in the reference photo, it was just one of those paint things that happen. I immediately noticed it and shelved it away to percolate.

Yesterday, it was time do let it loose...

Dripping with it

Tonights work. While most of the world was watching
the Game of Thrones finale.
A 5x7  sort of  b/w study.
Black is never on my palette anymore...but I cheated a little on this one.

Kinda Plein Air Morning

This started plein air, but after about 30 minutes the light went totally flat.
Brought it into the studio and worked from the photo I took.

2 Hour Hockey

When the Rangers aren't in the playoffs, I sometimes just listen...
Here's one that happened during the first 2 periods tonight.
From a quick sketch and a photo I took from the parking lot at Point Au Roche
yesterday morning, looking out across Deep Bay.
